The Israeli army carried out a strike late Friday afternoon with four missiles using a drone, hitting a car traveling between the towns of Nmeirieh and Sharqieh in the Nabatieh district. The attack killed one person, our correspondent in the South reports. The victim, Mohammad Hassan Cheib, a retired soldier, was initially reported as seriously injured.
Earlier in the day, several security incidents were reported at the border, primarily in the Marjayoun district, without resulting in any injuries. In the Majidieh plain, in the Hasbaya district, Israeli soldiers fired intensively at a group of farmers, according to testimonies collected by our correspondent. No injuries were reported. The soldiers had entered Lebanese territory to a depth of 400 meters. They also hit an electric generator belonging to a farm in the area. The Israeli army had already threatened farmers present on this plain several times in May.
In the Sour district, Israeli drones dropped bombs late in the morning on an orchard in the village of Dhaira, a locality completely destroyed during the Israeli ground offensive in southern Lebanon in October and November 2024. Drone strikes were also reported near civilians in the town of Kfar Kila (Marjayoun district). There, a small Israeli drone carrying an explosive charge crashed into a pickup truck. The explosion damaged the vehicle without causing any casualties.
An Israeli patrol had infiltrated at dawn to a depth of 500 meters into Lebanese territory and detonated a building in the ‘Ghassouna’ neighborhood of Blida (Marjayoun district). Late Thursday evening, Israeli bulldozers accompanied by tanks crossed the border in the Wadi Hounin region and advanced south of the town of Adaisseh (Marjayoun district), where they closed a road in the valley and erected earthen mounds, according to information from our correspondent.
These incursions are recurrent in southern Lebanon, where the Israeli army continues to occupy five positions and continues its daily bombardment. More than 190 people, both militants and civilians, have been killed in Lebanon since the cease-fire took effect on Nov. 27, 2024, which ended more than 13 months of war between Hezbollah and Israel, according to our tally.
