Lebanese Army arrests 21 wanted individuals

BEIRUT — The Lebanese Army announced Monday the arrest of 21 individuals wanted for various offenses, following a series of raids carried out as part of a broader effort to strengthen security across the country.

According to a statement from the military command, one suspect was arrested in Choueifat (Aley) in possession of a cache of weapons and ammunition, which were seized during the operation. Another individual was detained in Chmestar (Baalbeck) for illegal possession of firearms.

In Bouchieh (Metn), 19 Syrian nationals were arrested for residing in Lebanon without legal documentation.

Separately, in the Kobbeh neighborhood of Tripoli, security forces apprehended a woman suspected of writing a slogan linked to the Islamic State group on a wall in the village.

All the seized items have been turned over and an investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent authorities, the statement finally specifies.
