The Israeli army carried out several drone strikes on various targets in southern Lebanon on Saturday, resulting in one death and six injuries, according to figures from the Lebanese Ministry of Health. These new attacks occurred on the eve of Ashura commemorations, as Lebanon continues to prepare its response to the U.S. proposal for Hezbollah’s disarmament, conveyed by the American envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack.

On the same day, Barrack posted a message on his X account indirectly urging Lebanese leaders to make a decision: “Lebanon’s hope is awakening! The opportunity is here. This is a historic moment to move beyond the entrenched sectarianism of the past and finally realize the country’s true promise: one country, one people, one army.”

He added, paraphrasing President Donald Trump: “Lebanon is a great place, with great people. Let’s make Lebanon great again.”

While several media outlets reported on the state of the discussions, the press office of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri stated on Saturday that “the statements or messages attributed to him or reported by visitors in some media outlets are completely false,” emphasizing that “the meetings are ongoing and no final position has yet been taken.”

Earlier, the Al-Jadeed TV channel reported that Hezbollah had submitted its response “last night,” stressing that “there is no need to conclude a new agreement that would undo what has already been agreed upon.”

Meanwhile, sources contacted by Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath channels claimed that the Lebanese presidency had issued an ultimatum to the Shiite party on Saturday morning, and that even the Parliament Speaker, whose Amal Movement is allied with Hezbollah, had raised his tone. However, no official information had emerged by the end of the day.

On the ground, Israel carried out several strikes in various areas of southern Lebanon. Vehicles and a house were targeted, according to reports from our correspondent Muntasser Abdallah, who also noted unusual Israeli drone flights followed by fighter jets over the region’s skies.

The incidents unfolded as follows:

- At 9:30 a.m., an Israeli drone struck a house in the Shmeiss sector within the town of Shebaa (Hasbaya district). Reports indicate three people were injured — two lightly and one critically. About an hour later, another drone strike hit a vehicle near the Salah Ghandour hospital in Bint Jbeil (Bint Jbeil district). The attack caused at least one death and two injuries. The deceased was identified as Haytham Ismaïl Moustapha, from the village of Ainata. Later in the afternoon, the Israeli army confirmed that the deceased was a fighter from Hezbollah’s elite al-Radwan unit.

- At 2 p.m., a drone strike targeted a van in Bint Jbeil near the vocational school, causing only minor injuries.

- At 5 p.m., an Israeli drone fired at a pickup truck near the Birkat al-Naqqar neighborhood on the heights of Chebaa (Hasbaya district) without causing casualties.

Several other minor incidents were also reported.

Additionally, the Al-Jadeed TV channel reported Saturday that the General Security and other relevant agencies have launched investigations and inspections on all shipments entering through the northern and eastern land borders with Syria “to ensure everyone’s safety.” Earlier in the day, a General Security circular widely shared on social media warned that “terrorist groups intend to smuggle car batteries rigged with explosives across Lebanon’s land borders for use in terrorist acts.” We have not been able to independently verify this information with the concerned authorities at this time.
