An Israeli drone fired on a car Saturday in Kounin, a village in the Bint Jbeil district, killing its driver, Hassan Hamoudi, according to our correspondent in South Lebanon, Muntasser Abdallah.
One of the victim’s brothers had already been killed during the war between Hezbollah and Israel. A passerby was also injured.
Early in the evening, an Israeli drone targeted a motorcycle on the Mahrouna road, in the Sour district, killing one and injuring two. The victim was a member of a local municipal council.
A deadly strike killed a woman and wounded 21 others on Friday in the Nabatieh region, amid an Israeli military escalation in South Lebanon. Shortly before, Israeli forces conducted about twenty bombings on wooded areas in the Nabatieh highlands, causing seven minor injuries.
Saturday morning, Israeli drones flew over several villages in South Lebanon, and an Israeli helicopter dropped a stun grenade near a farmer on the outskirts of Kfar Kila in the Marjayoun district.
Israeli violations of the cease-fire that came into effect on Nov. 27, 2024, following 13 months of war between Hezbollah and the Israeli army, continue daily in South Lebanon.
A UNIFIL patrol intercepted
Meanwhile, individuals once again intercepted a patrol of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in the so-called Marj al-Khoukh area, between Ibl el-Saqi and Khiam, because it was not accompanied by the Lebanese army, according to our correspondent.
The president of the municipality, Georges Rahal, issued a statement on behalf of the villagers condemning the incident and denouncing “an act contrary to the peaceful principles and ethics of the people of Ibl el-Saqi.”
Incidents between UNIFIL patrols and South Lebanon residents have become recurrent in recent months, in a context where the international force and the Lebanese Army are tasked with dismantling Hezbollah weapons caches in the region.
