A powerful explosion of undetermined origin occurred in Damascus on Tuesday, according to Syrian state television, and its echo was heard across the capital, according to two AFP correspondents.
State TV reported “an explosion of unknown origin in the city of Damascus.” An AFP journalist heard the blast as he was driving in Umayyad Square, and another in the Mazzeh district.
