Iranian authorities executed a man on Sunday who was convicted as an agent of Mossad, the Israeli foreign intelligence service, the judiciary announced on the tenth day of the war between the two enemy countries. "Majid Mosayebi was hanged this morning after the completion of the entire criminal procedure and after his conviction was confirmed by the Supreme Court," said the Iranian judicial website, Mizan, stating that the man was engaged in providing "sensitive information ... to Mossad."
Iranian authorities have carried out numerous arrests of individuals suspected of espionage for Israel since an unprecedented attack launched by the latter on June 13. Later on Sunday, judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir stated that three individuals had been arrested in the western province of Kermanshah for spying, thanks to "the swift presence of the public and their assistance to intelligence services, law enforcement, and judicial agents." "One of them is reportedly a citizen of a European country," he added, quoted by Mizan.
Iran is the country with the most executions after China, according to NGOs.
