'We stand alongside Iran, which has never abandoned Lebanon,' says a Hezbollah MP

“The involvement of the United States in the aggression alongside the Zionist enemy will lead to a major escalation and put the entire region on the brink,” warns Hassan Ezzeddine.

Hezbollah MP Hassan Ezzeddine emphasized on Saturday that Hezbollah stands alongside Iran, which “has never abandoned Lebanon,” just days after the party’s deputy leader Naïm Kassem said it would act “appropriately” to support its ally in the war against Israel.

“We clearly declare that we are alongside the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has never abandoned Lebanon and has always supported our people and our resistance throughout all stages,” the parliamentarian said during a speech in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon. “Today, we are even more committed to the approach and authority of Leader Khamenei, and we express our loyalty and great confidence in his wisdom, courage and honorable leadership,” he added, as the Iranian Supreme Leader faces death threats.

According to Ezzeddine, “the Islamic Republic of Iran, thanks to its firmness, consistency and the rallying of its people, has thwarted all the enemy’s objectives, whether attempting to overthrow the regime, eliminate the peaceful nuclear program, or end missile capabilities.”

'Major escalation'

Ezzeddine added that “the American threats against Iran and its leaders target the entire region, not just the Islamic Republic, and that free peoples must recognize the seriousness of this confrontation and firmly stand on the side of truth.”

“The involvement of the United States in aggression alongside the Zionist enemy will lead to a major escalation and put the entire region on edge, threatening the security and stability of all, and causing further tensions and wars,” he warned.

Dozens of demonstrators showed their solidarity with Iran on Friday in the southern suburbs of Beirut and in Saida (southern Lebanon), as Israel and the Islamic Republic have continued deadly attacks over the past week amid disagreements over the nuclear issue. Meanwhile, Israel continues its near-daily strikes in Lebanon against alleged Hezbollah members and maintains a presence at five locations it considers “strategic” in the south of the country.
