Israeli military eases some safety restrictions

The Israeli military said public safety guidelines that have mandated school closures, among other restrictions, would ease in some areas from 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Parts of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and West Bank, in addition to Israeli communities near Gaza and in Eilat in Israel’s South, would be changed from "essential activity" to "partial activity." Other areas in Israel would change "essential activity” to "limited activity."

The changes would be in effect until 8 p.m. on June 20, the military said, and come following a fresh assessment from the army.

As part of the Home Front Command’s changes to its civil defense policy, small gatherings would be permitted and workplaces would be able to operate provided an adequate shelter can be reached in time. Schools will remain closed nationwide until further notice.

The guidelines remain in effect until Friday night, when the Home Front Command will conduct another assessment.
