BEIRUT — The Israeli army announced Tuesday that it has killed an important Iranian military commander, Ali Shadmani, in a nighttime strike, presenting him as the closest figure to the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Following a "sudden opportunity during the night, the Israeli air force struck a command center in the heart of Tehran and eliminated Ali Shadmani [...] the highest-ranking military commander and the figure closest to the Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei," the army stated.
