BEIRUT — An Israeli drone strike on Monday killed one person in the village of Houla (Marjayoun district of southern Lebanon), according to our regional correspondent. At the time of the strike, in the afternoon, the victim, a beekeeper, was tending to his hives on the outskirts of the locality.

Despite the cease-fire that went into effect on Nov.27, ending over a year of conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, including two months of open war, Tel Aviv continues its bombings in Lebanon, which have resulted in at least 176 deaths on Lebanese territory, according to our count.

Earlier in the day, an Israeli army drone crashed while it was flying over Houla, according to information from our local correspondent. The Israeli army also fired eight artillery shells between Taybe and Adaisseh (in the same Marjayoun district).

Last week, the Lebanese army had already reported the crash of two Israeli drones in Houla and Beit Lif (Bint Jbeil district). A similar device was also found in June in Dhaira (Sour) by the army. Since the cease-fire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel on Nov. 27, 2024, Hezbollah has claimed only one shot against Israel, in early December, while Israeli attacks are almost daily in southern Lebanon.

According to the terms of the truce, Hezbollah must withdraw north of the Litani River, about 30 kilometers from the Blue Line, and dismantle its military installations south of that limit. Israel was supposed to withdraw all its troops from Lebanon but currently occupies five positions it considers "strategic" along the border.
