BEIRUT — Iraq denounced on Friday the "military aggression" carried out by Israel against Iran, seeing it as a "threat to international security and peace" and calling on the international community to take "concrete measures" to prevent a recurrence.

The attack "occurred during a period of negotiations" on the nuclear issue between the United States and Iran, the Iraqi government spokesperson Bassem Alawadi lamented in a statement. Iraq calls on "the security council" of the U.N. to meet immediately "to adopt decisive and concrete measures to deter any aggression and prevent a recurrence."
