Everything happened quickly. On Sunday, June 8, U.S. President Donald Trump held a meeting with close advisors and his security team on Iranian nuclear issues and the war in Gaza. The next day, Trump spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the phone and stated in a podcast broadcast by the New York Post two days later that he was "less confident" about the possibility of an agreement with Iran. On Wednesday, the State Department and Pentagon confirmed that they were preparing for the departure of non-essential staff from the American embassy in Baghdad and authorized the voluntary departure of military relatives in the Middle East, notably in Kuwait and Bahrain, according to press reports.
