As it prepares to formally respond to the first written proposal from the United States since the start of nuclear negotiations, the threat of regional military escalation continues to loom over the Islamic Republic.Senior Israeli officials cited by the news outlet Axios on June 5 said Israel had assured the Trump administration that it would not launch a surprise attack on Iran "until it is clear that negotiations were exhausted and [White House envoy] Steve Witkoff has given up."Despite these assurances, Iran appears to be preparing for such an eventuality.
