Major fire in a wheat field near Rayak hospital in the Bekaa

Earlier this morning, another fire broke out in front of an auto parts shop in the Beddawi area of northern Lebanon.

A major fire broke out Saturday in a wheat field near Rayak hospital in the Bekaa, according to our correspondent in the region, Sarah Abdallah.

The flames approached a construction materials factory owned by Melhem Moukahal, president of the municipality of the village of Ali al-Nahri. Civil Defense teams are working to contain the fire to prevent it from spreading further.

Fire contained in Beddawi

Earlier Saturday morning, another fire broke out in front of an auto parts store in the Beddawi area of northern Lebanon, our correspondent Michel Hallak reported. The flames burned four vehicles parked in front of the shop, as well as some spare parts. Civil Defense teams managed to extinguish the fire, the cause of which remains unknown. No injuries were reported, and the damage was limited to property.

Several fires have been reported recently across various regions of Lebanon, fueled by a heatwave. In early May, the international environmental organization Greenpeace sounded the alarm about the effects of climate change in Lebanon. In response, Lebanese Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani reminded that a state of emergency has been declared in the forestry sector to prevent such disasters.
