BEIRUT — Beijing on Wednesday called U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio's remarks that the world will "never forget" the bloody crackdown on demonstrators at Tiananmen Square in 1989 a "deliberate attack."

These "wrong" remarks maliciously distort historical facts, deliberately attack China's political system and development path, and constitute serious interference in China's internal affairs, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Jian, said at a regular press briefing.
