BEIRUT — A Lebanese army force raided a person in the Lebanese village of al-Qasr (Hermel district) on Tuesday for allegedly smuggling fuel into Syria, our correspondent in the Bekaa reported.
Prior to the raid, reinforcements for the Lebanese Army were deployed at the border and an Army aircraft flew over the area.
The Lebanese Army has increased its presence at the border in recent months to combat smuggling and secure the border.
In February and March, clashes reportedly related to a smuggling operations occurred between Syrian security forces and Lebanese members of Shiite clans living near the border.
