BEIRUT — During a raid by a Lebanese army patrol in Brital, in the Baalbeck region, a "dangerous fugitive" accused of several serious crimes opened fire on soldiers, the military institution announced Tuesday. The soldiers returned fire, fatally wounding him.
The suspect, of Lebanese nationality, was involved in "kidnappings, armed robberies, forgeries, drug and arms trafficking," and had previously shot at soldiers, injuring several.
During the search of his home, the soldiers seized "counterfeiting equipment, forged documents, narcotics, as well as weapons and ammunition."
