The Israeli army issued a call on Monday night for the evacuation of residents of a neighborhood in Khan Younis, a city in the southern Gaza Strip, where Israel has been at war for nearly 20 months against the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.

The Israeli forces will “operate with all their strength” in certain neighborhoods where “terrorist organizations, primarily Hamas, continue their activities,” wrote the army's Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adree, on his account X: “For your safety, evacuate immediately westward to Al-Mawassi.”
