The Lebanese Druze leader and former president of the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP), Walid Jumblatt, said on Saturday that the Israeli plan aims to completely destroy the Gaza Strip and create a large concentration camp in the southern part of the Palestinian enclave.
“We must stop entertaining illusions about the possibility of a cease-fire in Gaza or a prisoner exchange,” Jumblatt said in a message on X. According to him, “the Israeli plan is based on the complete destruction of the strip of land, with the establishment of a large concentration camp in the south, similar to the Nazi camps, where human beings are treated like numbers, in preparation for their displacement or extermination.”
The Druze leader, a supporter of the Palestinian cause and opponent of normalization with Israel, regularly denounces “any instrumentalization of the Druze community,” which is present in Lebanon, Syria and Israel, by the Israeli government, which he accuses of wanting to partition Syria.
