Netanyahu vows to keep Jerusalem 'unified' under Israeli sovereignty


Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised Monday to keep Jerusalem "unified" under Israeli sovereignty during a cabinet meeting marking "Jerusalem Day," according to a statement from his office.

"We will preserve Jerusalem unified, indivisible, and under Israel's sovereignty," Netanyahu said during this meeting, which was held exceptionally in Silwan, a Palestinian neighborhood of East Jerusalem, annexed and occupied by Israel, beneath the walls of the Old City, which houses an important Jewish archaeological site.
