On Tuesday, Israel announced the recall of its senior negotiators from Doha for consultations amid ongoing discussions for a potential agreement on the release of hostages in exchange for a ceasefire in Gaza. Despite this, a working team remains stationed in the Qatari capital.
Israel has accepted an "American proposal for the return of hostages," which has been relayed to Hamas by mediators (Egypt and Qatar).
"Hamas continues to refuse," according to a statement from the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "After about a week of intense talks in Doha, the lead negotiators will return to the country for consultations, leaving a working team in Doha."
