Berlin expressed Saturday its "deep concern about the situation in Gaza, targeted by an expanded Israeli offensive that 'could endanger the lives of the remaining hostages, including German hostages," the German Foreign Ministry stressed.
"An extended military offensive also carries the risk that the catastrophic humanitarian situation for the population in Gaza and the remaining hostages could further deteriorate, and that the prospect of a sustainable and urgently needed ceasefire becomes distant," the ministry stated.
