BEIRUT — Academic and journalist Dr. Naji Kozaily was appointed as advisor to President Joseph Aoun on the Vatican affairs, a source in the Baabda Palace told L'Orient Today on Wednesday.

According to his LinkedIn Profile, Kozaily has worked as a journalist with the Lebanese presidency. He is also an academic affiliated with Antonine University, where he serves as the representative of part-time instructors in the council of the Faculty of Information and Communication.

Kozaily has made numerous apparitions in Lebanese media on matters related to the church and the Vatican.

Around three weeks ago, President Aoun and first lady Neemat Aoun attended the funeral of Pope Francis at the Vatican. Aoun is also expected to attend the Inaugural Mass of newly elected Pope Leo at the Vatican on Sunday.

On another level, the Vatican is studying the beatification and canonisation files of numerous Lebanese religious figures.
