An officer of the Internal Security Forces (ISF), Lieutenant Raed Hamed Haedar, was killed at dawn on Tuesday morning on the edge of the Emile Lahoud expressway in the Tahwita area, at Furn al-Shebbak, in the southeastern suburb of Beirut.
The statement issued by the ISF's directorate indicates that the officer died after being struck by a vehicle following a collision between several cars, while he was ensuring traffic safety.
Having joined the ISF in 2005, the officer was 39 years old and a native of the village of Majdlaya, in the Aley district. He was posthumously honored with the ISF's Medal of Merit, the statement concludes.
