Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that he would "wait" for his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Turkey, where the latter earlier proposed holding talks starting Thursday.

"We are waiting for a complete and lasting ceasefire, starting tomorrow, to provide a necessary basis for diplomacy," he wrote on X, adding, "I will wait for Putin in Turkey on Thursday. Personally. I hope that this time the Russians won't look for excuses."
