The anti-Hezbollah camp is convinced that the era of Syrian-Iranian hegemony over Lebanon is over — after the fall of the Assad regime in Damascus on Dec. 8 and the setbacks Hezbollah suffered in its latest war with Israel. Some of its members are now giving their political struggle a new momentum. In their view, this new phase should be built on three main pillars: respect for the Constitution, state monopoly on arms and adherence to international resolutions.It is with this aim that Fares Souhaid, former MP and Secretary-General of the March 14 alliance, and a leading figure in the anti-Hezbollah camp, launched a new collective on Saturday called “The Constitution First,” during a ceremony held at Le Gabriel Hotel in Achrafieh.
