It was 12:10 p.m. local time Saturday, April 26, when a massive explosion rocked Iran. The blast happened at the Shahid Rajaei port on the outskirts of Bandar Abbas, along the Strait of Hormuz. At least 40 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured, Iranian state media reported Sunday.As firefighters continued battling the blaze to prevent its spread, questions remained about the causes of the disaster at Iran’s largest port, which handles 85 percent of the country’s maritime container traffic and much of its oil exports.The explosion occurred as the third round of nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran was underway in Oman.
