Approximately 61,000 faithful mourners have passed through St. Peter's Basilica in Rome since Wednesday morning to pay tribute to the body of Pope Francis, who died Monday at 88 years old, the Vatican announced Thursday during a press briefing.
From Wednesday 09:00 GMT to Thursday 11:00 GMT, 61,000 pilgrims were able to pay their respects, enduring long hours of waiting, to the pontiff, whose open casket is displayed in front of the high altar of the basilica.
