The Palestinian Civil Defense announced that Israeli airstrikes killed at least seven people in the Gaza Strip Tuesday morning.

Two strikes overnight in western Gaza City resulted in four and two deaths, respectively, while the bombing of a house in Khan Younis, in the southern Palestinian territory, killed one person, Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal told AFP.

Breaking a nearly two-month truce, Israel resumed its air and ground offensive against the Palestinian movement Hamas in Gaza on March 18. According to the Gaza health ministry, at least 1,864 Palestinians have been killed since March 18, bringing the death toll in Gaza to 51,240 since the start of the Israeli retaliatory offensive in 2023. The war was triggered by Hamas' unprecedented attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, which led to the deaths of 1,218 people on the Israeli side, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official data. Of the 251 people abducted that day, 58 are still being held in Gaza, with 34 having died, according to the Israeli army.

On Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he was determined to continue the war and rejected Hamas' "dictates." According to Netanyahu, only military pressure will allow the return of the hostages still held in Gaza.
