Iran, a Muslim country yet maintains good relations with the Vatican, offered its condolences on Monday following the death of Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church, at the age of 88.
"My colleagues have just informed me of the news ..., I offer my condolences to all Christians around the world," said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaïl Baghaï during a press briefing, adding that he "prays to Almighty God for the peace" of Pope Francis.
