For the first time, Higher Judicial Council announces decisions live on television
The announcement mainly concerned the appointment of the presidents of the 10 chambers of the Court of Cassation, half of whom are subject to a community-based rotation.

It was through a televised address that the Higher Judicial Council announced on Tuesday the decisions taken during its open meeting, held Monday and Tuesday, under the presidency of Judge Souheil Abboud, following the appointment of six of its 10 legally mandated members.The move is unprecedented: for the first time, the summary of a meeting was delivered by a judge attached to the Council’s secretariat, Rodny Daou, who spoke live on television, whereas the body had always relied on the print press to disseminate its statements.This initiative is part of an effort to bring justice closer to citizens and to strengthen transparency, according to a judicial source, who said other steps would follow, such as reactivating the Council’s website.
