BEIRUT - Interior and Municipalities Minister, Ahmad Hajjar, on Wednesday convened the electoral colleges of Beirut, the Bekaa, and the Baalbek-Hermel region for the municipal elections and the elections of the mokhtars to be held on May 18.
He also signed the decisions aimed at electing members of the municipal councils and the councils of mokhtars and distributing polling stations.
On May 19, the third round of a municipal election will take place, spread over the four Sundays of May 2025, and postponed three times, in 2022, 2023, and 2024. On Sunday, May 4, the election will be held in the governorate of Mount Lebanon, on the 11th in those of North Lebanon and Akkar, and on May 25, the vote will concern the southern governorates of the country.
Minister Hajjar has repeatedly stressed that the municipal elections will take place within the designated timeframes, before the expiration of the mandates of the municipal councils at the end of May.
