Rumors circulated on social media Sunday afternoon claiming that Baabda MP Fadi Alameh, affiliated with the Amal Movement, had been arrested at Beirut airport. The claims were swiftly denied by Alameh himself and by Ali Hamdane, spokesperson for the Shiite party allied with Hezbollah.
The lawmaker also personally refuted the arrest: “I had a heated verbal exchange with one of the security officers who threatened to impound my car, claiming I had parked it improperly,” he said. He added that the dispute was resolved, particularly after Fadi Kfouri, head of airport security, got in touch with him.
“He apologized to me,” Alameh concluded, describing the controversy stirred by the incident as “pointless.” This version of events was confirmed by Ali Hamdane.
