Russia invites Rajji to visit Moscow

BEIRUT – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Joe Rajji, received on Friday an invitation to visit Moscow during a meeting with the Russian ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Rudakov, according to the state-run National News Agency (NNA).

According to NNA, the invitation was extended on behalf of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. During the meeting, Rajji and Rudakov also discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, specifically in Syria.

At the onset of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, in Feb. 2022, the Lebanese diplomacy had condemned the invasion, causing an uproar on the political stage. Since then, Beirut has distanced itself from the conflict and maintained a neutral stance.
