Army arrests suspected smuggler and seventeen Syrian passengers in Baalbeck

Lebanese Army announced Wednesday the arrest, in Rasm al-Hadath (Baalbeck district), of a man identified by the initials M.D. who is suspected of attempting to illegally bring seventeen Syrians into Lebanon in a van.

The suspected smuggler and the apprehended individuals have been handed over to the competent judicial authorities and an investigation has been opened, according to the state-run National News Agency (NNA).

On Tuesday, the troops had conducted searches in Syrian refugee camps in Anfeh and Chekka in North Lebanon, in search of individuals involved in security cases and had apprehended several Syrians who entered Lebanon illegally.
