The Lebanese Minister of Education, Rima Karameh, announced Tuesday the closure of all schools, technical institutes, universities, and higher education institutions, as well as kindergartens, from Thursday, April 17, 2025, to Monday, April 21, 2025, for Good Friday and Easter. This year, the Holy Week celebrations for Christians coincide at the same time for communities following Orthodox and Catholic rites. The Orthodox churches follow the Julian calendar to determine the date of Easter, while the Catholic Churches use the Gregorian calendar.
In a statement received by L'Orient Today, Rima Karame extended her "warm greetings to all education and teaching staff in the public and private sectors," expressing her "high regard for their efforts during this period to fulfill the national role entrusted to them."
