The Kremlin expressed on Tuesday its support for the 'direct' discussions announced the day before by U.S. President Donald Trump, between Tehran and Washington regarding the Iranian nuclear program.

'We know that some direct and indirect contacts are planned in Oman. And of course, we can only welcome this, as it can lead to a de-escalation of tensions around Iran,' said the Russian presidency's spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, during his daily briefing attended by AFP.
