Hezbollah will make “every effort” despite “pressure from the Americans and Israelis” to reconstruct, Hezbollah MP Ali Fayad said Monday from Taybeh (Marjayoun).
Speaking during a commemoration ceremony for a group of killed Hezbollah members said, “This is the promise from the resistance to its people.”
He emphasized that "if some believe that obstructing the reconstruction is a way to weaken the resistance, they are mistaken and deluded because our people have awareness and fully understand the malicious goals behind these calculations."
He warned that "obstructing reconstruction is a ticking social bomb, which, if prolonged, will explode in the face of those who seek harm to the resistance."
He said, "We express our satisfaction with the unified official Lebanese position in responding to the pressuring stances of the American envoy, because we truly and realistically believe that unity in the Lebanese stance is a paramount necessity at this stage. If this stance is marked by firmness and resolve in facing the policy of threats and intimidation, we will have taken half the path in confronting the complexities and challenges of the current phase, and we will be on the right track to liberate our land and preserve our sovereignty."
U.S. envoy Morgan Ortagus, who arrived in Beirut over the weekend amid heightened tensions with Israel, adopted a notably softer tone than expected, particularly regarding Hezbollah’s disarmament.
According to information obtained by L’Orient Today from multiple Lebanese officials, Ortagus’ meetings with Lebanese leaders were described as positive.
“I have very good relations with President Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri,” she said, adding she was “impressed” by the caliber of ministers in Salam’s government.
On Hezbollah’s weapons, Ortagus reiterated Washington’s position that disarmament should happen “as soon as possible,” but did not impose a timeline, as some Lebanese officials had feared or hoped. She instead positioned economic reform as the top U.S. priority.
Fayad concluded by stating unequivocally that "our final direction and steadfast decision is to ensure that the resistance and the army remain together in the equation of defending the homeland, protecting its stability, and making every joint effort to bring it to safety."
