Hezbollah on Thursday condemned what it called the “barbaric American-Israeli aggression against Syria, Yemen, Gaza, and Lebanon,” declaring that “the equation is clear today: either confrontation or submission to the enemy’s plans.”
In a statement, Hezbollah described the attacks as an “extension of the open war waged by the American-Zionist axis against the people of the region (…) to serve the interests of the Zionist entity and secure control over the region.”
Hezbollah said “the attacks on Syria — through repeated airstrikes and continuous incursions — aim to weaken the Syrian state and prevent its recovery, constituting a blatant violation of its sovereignty.” It added that “the heroic resistance of the honorable sons of Syria against the Zionist incursion proves that the Syrian people have always chosen confrontation and resistance to the occupier, and that the spirit of resistance is deeply rooted in their consciousness.”
Syrian authorities accused Israel of seeking to “destabilize” the country after a series of strikes destroyed a military airport and a ground incursion in the south killed 13 people, according to an NGO. Intensive airstrikes on military targets in central Syria and the Damascus region were followed by an Israeli ground operation in the south, where nine people were reportedly killed while attempting to resist the advance.
On Yemen, Hezbollah said, “The continued barbaric American aggression and the massacres committed against its people aim to divert the Yemeni people from their support for Gaza and the Palestinian resistance, attempting to prevent them from continuing their heroic operations.”
Yemen’s Houthis reported one death on Wednesday in new U.S. strikes on the western province of Hodeida. On Tuesday night, four people were killed in strikes in Hodeida, a rebel-controlled region, according to the Houthis, who accused the United States of responsibility. Washington has not confirmed carrying out the attacks.
Regarding Gaza, Hezbollah said, “The war of extermination continues, and the plans for forced displacement, under the eyes of a complicit international community, reveal the inability of the enemy to break the resistance’s will and the steadfast spirit of the Palestinian people.” Israel announced Wednesday that its army had begun partitioning the Gaza Strip and seizing large areas of territory to force Hamas to release hostages.
“This dangerous escalation places all countries and peoples of the region before a historic responsibility, forcing them to unite to confront these projects threatening the world,” Hezbollah added. “The equation is clear today: either confrontation or submission to the enemy’s plans, which seek only to subjugate the region, dominate it, and exploit its people and resources.”
The group called on “all free people of the world to raise their voices against this unjust aggression and to pressure the international community to end these repeated attacks.” It also condemned what it described as “blatant American complicity that threatens regional peace and stability, paving the way for further escalation and aggressive wars, while a suspicious international silence persists.”
