The situation nearly escalated. On Saturday morning, three rockets fired from southern Lebanon were intercepted over the town of Metula in northern Israel, jeopardizing the status quo that the cease-fire agreement, which ended the Israel-Hezbollah war, has established since November. While Tel Aviv continues to violate the agreement, this attack is the first that was launched from Lebanon since the deal, except for a rocket fired toward the disputed Shebaa Farms and a reconnaissance drone. While Hezbollah claimed the two above-mentioned operations, no one claimed responsibility for Saturday’s attack. In a statement, Hezbollah even washed its hands of it, stressing its respect for the cease-fire and aligning itself with the Lebanese state and its decisions.
