The Federation of Primary and Complementary School Teachers in Public Schools confirmed in a statement its decision to strike on Monday, March 24, and Wednesday, March 25, followed by a sit-in in front of the Education Ministry on Thursday, March 26, at noon.

“The Federation of Teachers believes that the Education Ministry has not taken the initiative to find solutions to the demands it previously submitted in a letter to the minister a few days ago. Therefore, the responsibility for the ongoing crisis lies with the Ministry,” the union wrote. It called on all teachers wishing to assert their rights with the state to join the strike and the sit-in. These demands primarily concern salaries, which have not been adjusted to fully compensate for the depreciation of the Lebanese pound that occurred during the crisis.

Lebanese Education and Higher Education Minister Rima Karameh, stated on Saturday that she has indeed heard the teachers' salary demands, while the contractual teachers' unions have called for a strike day on March 24, dubbed “Monday of Anger.”
