Yemen, and its population with millennia-old traditions, will be at the heart of the symposium "Saving Yemen's Cultural Heritage" organized Tuesday evening by BAFF and the AUB Archaeological Museum.

The Beirut Art Film Festival (BAFF), in collaboration with the American University of Beirut's (AUB) Archaeological Museum, is honoring Yemen's rich cultural heritage through an evening of screenings and lectures titled "Saving Yemen's Cultural Heritage." Scheduled for Tuesday, March 18, at 7 p.m. at the Bathish Auditorium of AUB, the gathering will bring together Salma Samar Damluji, a world expert on earthen brick architecture, and journalist Khairallah Khairallah, former editor-in-chief of al-Hayat (1988-1998), head of the international politics department at an-Nahar (1976-1988), and author of Yemen Fires: Inside Stories. Adding to the occasion, the lectures will be punctuated by two short films. The first, The Walls of Sanaa, was directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini in 1971 and called on UNESCO to preserve this...
