The night and Sunday morning were turbulent in South Lebanon, with two separate Israeli strikes, both carried out by armed drones, killing at least two people in South Lebanon, according to local correspondent Muntasser Abdallah. In the Bekaa region, an incident involving four armed individuals from Syria and Lebanese clans residing in the border area disrupted the calm on Sunday.

The first of the airstrikes that hit South Lebanon occurred around 2 a.m. in Yater, in the Bint Jbeil district, and the second took place Sunday morning east of Mais al-Jabal, in the Marjayoun district. According to local media, the victim of the first strike was a young man identified as Mohammad Imad Srour, from Aita al-Shaab (Bint Jbeil). This raid, carried out with a guided missile, also seriously injured another person who was in the vehicle, according to our sources.

Is Israel making a ‘gesture’ toward the new Lebanese government or setting a trap?

The Israeli army carried out another attack on a vehicle Sunday morning in Mais al-Jabal (Bint Jbeil), killing Hussein Mahmoud Taha, a Hezbollah official, as stated in the announcement of his "martyrdom" published by the party. According to our correspondent, two of his brothers, Mohsen and Hassan Taha, had been killed a few months earlier during clashes with the Israeli army.

Commenting on these attacks, the Israeli army's Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated that the air force had "eliminated two Hezbollah terrorists while they were conducting reconnaissance activities and directing terrorist operations in the areas of Yater and Meis el-Jabal."

A similar strike took place on Saturday in Bourj el-Moulouk (Marjeyoun district), targeting a pickup truck and killing one person. The Israeli army claimed responsibility, stating that it had targeted a Hezbollah operative engaged in "terrorist activities" in the area.

Infiltrations, gunfire at sea and a trench dug

Meanwhile, an Israeli army infiltration was observed from its Misgav Am position across the Blue Line, with local witnesses reporting that soldiers advanced towards the cemetery and the destroyed mosque in the Lebanese village of Adaïssé, according to the National News Agency (ANI, official).

Other Israeli troops were seen crossing the border fence near Kfar Kila (Marjayoun), where they remained for several hours inside Lebanese territory before withdrawing back across the Blue Line.

Additionally, Israeli machine gun and artillery fire was reported from the Roueissat el-Alam position, which faces the Lebanese village of Kfarchouba.

Around midnight, an Israeli military vessel fired multiple times towards Lebanese territorial waters, though the target remains unclear. Between 10 and 11 p.m., Israeli soldiers advanced from Misgav Am kibbutz to the vicinity of the cemetery and the destroyed mosque in Adaïssé, on Lebanese territory, while another patrol deployed near Kfar Kila. Automatic gunfire and shelling were also heard in the vicinity of Kfarchouba, according to our correspondent.

The municipality of Houla (Marjayoun) announced overnight that the Israeli army had dug a “trench” toward the el-Abad site, near the village, "effectively occupying an area beyond the five positions" where it remains stationed in South Lebanon. The municipality has called on Lebanese authorities to intervene immediately by pressuring the UN and the cease-fire oversight committee to ensure the return of the "usurped" lands.

Two bodies found in Mais al-Jabal

Additionally, two new bodies of individuals killed during the war between Hezbollah and Israel were discovered in Meis el-Jabal, according to a statement from Lebanese Civil Defense on Sunday.

"The remains have been transferred to Salah Ghandour Hospital in Bint Jbeil for the necessary medical and legal examinations, including DNA tests to determine the identity of the martyrs," the statement said.

Contrary to earlier reports, no Lebanese were injured by Israeli gunfire in the village of Ramiyé (Bint Jbeil district), according to our correspondent, who contacted the local municipality. However, Israeli soldiers threw a stun grenade into the locality at some point during the day.

The cease-fire between Lebanon and Israel, which took effect on Nov. 27, 2024, ended thirteen months of clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah. However, Israel continues to violate this agreement almost daily, maintaining its occupation of five strategic positions in South Lebanon, particularly due to their high-altitude locations along the border.

Clashes in Hermel

In the Bekaa region, four armed men, likely members of Syria’s new security forces, attempted to infiltrate Lebanese territory this afternoon near the border town of al-Qasr (Baalbeck-Hermel district), according to our regional correspondent Sarah Abdallah. They were ultimately repelled by armed Lebanese clan members, resulting in two dead and two wounded on the Lebanese side. The wounded were transported to local hospitals by the Lebanese Red Cross.

The National News Agency (NNA, official) reported that the Lebanese Red Cross had also recovered three bodies near the "earthen embankment" in al-Qasr, transporting them to Hermel Public Hospital, while the Lebanese General Security has launched an investigation into the incident.

NNA also reported that a Lebanese civilian was in critical condition after being stabbed a few hours earlier near a construction site close to Hermel, likely by a Syrian worker.

Since the fall of the Syrian regime under Bashar al-Assad, multiple incidents have occurred along the Lebanon-Syria border, involving the new regime’s armed forces, formed by a coalition of Islamist rebels, and the Lebanese clans living in the border region.
