A 12-year-old child died Thursday from severe injuries after being accidentally shot in the head during a shooting on Monday in Tripoli, reports our correspondent in the region, Michel Hallak.

Two people were injured after a dispute escalated in the Zahrieh neighborhood, where a man opened fire Monday afternoon in a chicken restaurant, a few minutes before iftar. The shooter has not yet been apprehended.

This incident occurred in the context of heightened security measures in Tripoli. At the initiative of Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar and the Director General of the Internal Security Forces (ISF), General Imad Osman, the police recently implemented a comprehensive security plan for the month of Ramadan in March. It includes roadblocks, as well as the deployment of motorized and foot patrols throughout the city.
