At least 1,383 civilians killed on Syria coast: new monitor toll

At least 1,383 civilians were killed in massacres on Syria's coast, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Violence in northwest Syria escalated over the weekend between the new Syrian security forces and loyalists to the former Assad regime. The clashes occurred in Alawite-majority areas, a Syrian minority which the Assad family belonged to.
