BEIRUT — All sorts of imaginable objects featuring Hassan Nasrallah, the former Hezbollah leader assassinated during Israeli strikes in late September in the southern suburbs of Beirut, have already made headlines. The latest, a small commemorative tomb, featuring a portrait of Nasrallah with a smile, adorned with artificial flowers, recently sparked many reactions on social media, particularly on X.

The object, which appeared to be about one meter long, is shown in a widely shared photo from an unknown source. It appeared to have been designed as a decorative piece to be displayed inside a home. Verses from the Quran are engraved on its surface. It appears to have been put up for sale, but no information about its price or availability has been shared.

A miniature version of this commemorative monument is, however, sold for $28. It is offered via an Instagram account, which started marketing these items in mid-February, a few days before the public funeral held on Feb. 23 at Camille Chamoun Stadium.

On these miniature versions, verses from the Quran, words from the former leader of the party taken from his speeches, as well as tributes written by Parliamentary Speaker Nabih Berri in honor of his 'big brother' are also engraved. No direct link could be established between the photos showing the monument and those concerning the miniatures.

Internet users quickly reacted to this post on X by Nathalia, who presents herself as a very active journalist on the platform. Some expressed their astonishment, refusing to believe that such a decorative object could exist. Others saw it as a true "madness." "It's not the seller who is the problem, but rather the buyer," wrote one user.

"A business thriving on the money of the ignorant," added another, while a series of laughing emojis accompanied the reactions.
