Eurowings, one of the airlines of the German Lufthansa Group, decided to resume its flights to Beirut starting March 17, according to two sources within travel agencies in Lebanon on Tuesday.

According to one of the sources, the airline will operate four flights per week: Two connecting Beirut to Berlin and two others linking the Lebanese capital to Düsseldorf, in western Germany. The flights are available from the stated date on the airline's website.

Eurowings is the first airline of the Lufthansa Group to restore its flights to Beirut. The group was among the quickest to suspend its flights right from the beginning of the Gaza war in 2023, before resuming them and then suspending them again last July, in response to early signs of escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah. It extended the suspension of its flights several times.

Between late September and early December, at the peak of the war, the national airline Middle East Airlines (MEA) was the only one to continue providing regular flights to Beirut. Since the cease-fire started at the end of November, several foreign airlines resumed their service to Lebanon.
