Palestinian factions condemned Tuesday the assassination of Abdel Rahman Abu al-Mouna, a commander of the Jenin Brigades, by the Palestinian Authority's security forces. Abu al-Mouna, an activist wanted by Israel, was an official of the group based in the occupied West Bank.

According to several media outlets, Abu al-Mouna was ambushed by civilian vehicles of the Palestinian Authority's security forces. They opened fire on him before taking him to the hospital, where his death was confirmed. A spokesperson for the Palestinian Authority, cited by Israeli media, stated that Abu al-Mouna opened fire on the security forces, which led to the response that killed him.

Hamas described the killing as a "heinous crime" and denounced a "dangerous escalation" in the repression of Palestinian resistance fighters, labeling the act as collaboration with Israel. It warned of "serious consequences" for national cohesion and called for an end to the persecution of resistance fighters.

Islamic Jihad also criticized this "shameful security coordination" and warned against further attacks on Palestinian fighters. The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine denounced "destructive behavior" harmful to the national struggle against Israel.
