Two people were injured after a dispute turned violent in the Zahriya neighborhood in Tripoli, where a man opened fire Monday afternoon in a restaurant selling chicken a few minutes before iftar, our correspondent in the north reported.

One of the people injured is a 12-year-old child. The injured were transferred to Tripoli Government Hospital, where the child's condition was described as critical.

Immediately, a military force arrived at the scene and began tracking down the shooter, who fled to an unknown location, our correspondent reported.

Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred as a result of the shooter's anger after being refused half a chicken, which led him to open fire indiscriminately.

This incident occurred against a backdrop of heightened security measures in Tripoli. Driven by Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar and General Director of the Internal Security Forces, General Imad Osman, the police recently implemented a comprehensive security plan for Ramadan in March. This plan includes roadblocks and the deployment of motorized and pedestrian patrols throughout the city.
