BEIRUT — The Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced on Thursday that it arrested on Monday a gang that was carrying out robberies near the airport road in Beirut's southern suburbs.
The arrested gang, composed of four Lebanese, including two minors, and one Syrian, were using a black Kia Picanto car with tinted windows and a military pistol to rob their victims.
On Monday at dawn, a "Kia car was spotted crashing into a pickup truck on the airport road, where three young men and two girls got out of it, blackmailed the driver and tried to rob him," the ISF said in its statement.
Immediately, two ISF patrols were able to seize the car and arrest the gang's members, according to the statement.
The arrested people were identified as: H. H. H. (born in 1999, Lebanese), H. H. M. (born in 2006, Lebanese), N.B. (born in 2008, Lebanese) minor, A.A. A. A. (born in 2009, Lebanese) minor and H.A. H. A. (born in 2004, Syrian). The last person was arrested later after he fled the scene.
During the interrogation, the gang's members "confessed to carrying out several robberies in the same manner, where they robbed their victims after pointing a military pistol at them and then fled."
The arrested people and the seized items were then handed over to the southern suburbs' Judicial Division in the Judicial Police Unit for further investigation.
